Almost everyone desires to be happy and to live a life full of happiness. Little do we realize that we hold onto so many things that cause us pain, stress, and suffering. Instead of acknowledging these pains and letting them go, and living a life stress free, we cling to them, allowing ourselves to live in suffering.
But, Not anymore!
Start today by giving up the things that hold you back, and no longer serve you. Be ready to embrace change. Now, take a moment, focus and breathe.
Ready? Here are the 15 things You should GIVE UP Today!
1. The Need To Always Be Right
So many people cannot stand the idea of being wrong, always wanting to be right, even at the expense of ending relationships, friendships or causing pain or stress for themselves or others. The reality is, it is not worth it. If you find yourself on the verge of an argument over wrong and right, simply ask yourself “Would I rather be right or would I rather be kind?” What difference does it make? Do not let your ego control you.
2. Your Need For Control
Learn to allow everything and everyone to just be who they are, who they want to be, and you will notice how much better you will feel. You do not and will not be able to control everything that happens to you or to others around you, situations, or unpredicted events. Just let go of the need to control everything and everyone.
3. Your Need To Blame Others
Stop giving your power away to others and take responsibility for YOU and the choices you make. When you blame others for what you do not have, or how you feel, you create stress for yourself.
4. Demeaning and negative Self-Talk
This is so common and depletes our happiness. How many people beat themselves up by constantly having negative thoughts and self-defeating mindset? Stop believing those demeaning thoughts that run through your head, rather replace them with positive. You are better than that!
5. Limiting Beliefs
Do not hold yourself back by focusing on what you can or cannot do, about what may be possible or impossible. Spread your wings and fly! No longer allow those limiting beliefs keep you in the wrong place.
Stop complaining about your life; people, situations, events or anything else that makes you unhappy, hurtful, or sad. No situation or no person can make you feel miserable unless you allow it to. How you look at the situation and your chosen perspective determines how you feel. Complaining does not change a thing!
We are all different, want different things, and have different life experiences. Do not criticize others that are not like you. Even though we have so many differences, we are still similar in our wants to be happy, to love and be loved, and be understood.
8. Your Need To Impress Others
Be who you are and be who you want to be. Stop trying to impress others just to make them like you. The moment you learn to accept who you are and embrace the real you, people will be drawn to you effortlessly. Be you no matter what.
9. Resistance Towards Change
Embrace change, for change is good! Change will take you from where you are to where you want to be. When you embrace change, your life around you improves and so do others around you.
10. Rid Yourself Of Labels
The famous quote from Wayne Dyer says “The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you know nothing about.” Open your mind and stop labeling people, situations, and events that you may not understand or may seem different to you. Your mind works when it is open.
You create the idea of fears, for it is only an illusion of the mind. They do not exist, rather our minds create them for protection. When you correct the internal world, the external begins to fall into place.
12. No More Excuses!
Most of the time excuses we make are not real. Often, we limit ourselves due to the many excuses and lies we tell ourselves, instead of allowing growth and improvement in our lives. Send those somewhere else and tell them they are fired, you no longer need them.
13. Your Past
This is a biggie! I know, this is hard for most people, especially when the past is brighter than your current situation, and the future is mortifying, but you have to. Take into consideration that the present moment is the only thing you have or will ever have.
Be present in all you do and stop dreaming about the past. In the end, life is a journey, not a destination. It is important to have a clear view of the future, be prepared, and stay present in the now.
14. Concept of Attachment
This concept is one of the most challenging, yet it is not impossible. The moment you detach yourself from all things you find peace within yourself, be kind to yourself and others. Detaching yourself doesn’t mean that you give up on love, love and attachment have nothing to do with each other. The concept of attachment comes from fear, while love is pure, self-less, and kind. These cannot coexist.
When you let go of attachment you are able to reach a place of understanding all things without even trying.
15. Living Life For Others Expectations
There are too many people living life for others and not for themselves. They live life based on what others think of them and what is best for them, they live with what their parents or family members think is best for them, to what people tell them.. Teachers, government, friends, and enemies. With this, we dismiss our inner calling and ignore our inner voice.
People learn to forget what makes them happy, what they want to get out of life, and what their needs are; forgetting anything and everything about themselves. Being too busy pleasing others and living to what their expectations and allowing others to control how they live.
The result: You only have ONE life to live and that is RIGHT NOW. Learn to live it, own it, and stop letting others control you and your destiny. Do not let others thoughts and opinions of you determine your path in life. To learn more about how life coaching can change your life go here.
