5 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Hiring A Coach For Your Business

Will working with a life coach benefit your business? The answer to this question is quite simple. Yes!  However, identifying the

actual benefits is less succinct.

There are a number of benefits to working with a coach to improve your business. Studies have shown that people who used a business coach reported having increased self-esteem and self-confidence. Also, showed clients improved other areas of their business such as with time management, relationship and communication skills.

Having a coach can provide small business owners with support, guidance, a non judgmental perspective, and remind them of their strengths, beliefs, and vision. This role is not always something that a family member or friend would be able to provide due to the fact they are emotionally attached or affected by potential business challenges.

When you hire a coach that means you have a confidential place to discuss any challenges, or hindrances with someone who has been trained to listen and ask questions that are effective to the growth of your company.

Before you dive into the client- coach relationship, I suggest you ask yourself the following questions:

1. What Do You Want To Accomplish By Partnering With A Coach?

Spend some time answering this question. If you already have in mind a clear, defined outcome, then a coach would be a valuable partner for you to help develop a plan to get there.  In order to identify a coach that is best for you is to determine what you want to accomplish whether it is either in your personal life or for your career/business.  This allows you to make sure you choose a coach that will best suit your needs and you will be able to have a good relationship so that you will benefit.

2. Are You Willing To Put Effort Into The Coaching Process?

There is a certain amount of time and energy that is required in order for you to get the most out of your coaching experience.  You have to be open and willing to make changes in your life.  The coaching process is effective if “You” put in the work necessary to make lasting changes. Your coach will be there to support you, but you have to implement the change!

3. In Your Business, Do You Take Responsibility For Results?

Coaching may not be for you depending on your answer to this question. How often do you complain about your situation or make excuses as to why you are not successful or stuck in a rut?  Do you find ways to blame others if things are not going as planned or do you take full responsibility?

4. Do You Value Your Business Only Or Do You Believe There is More Needed In Your Life Outside Of Business?

If you do not see any value of life outside of your business, then coaching may not be for you because you are most likely resistant to change.  Those business owners who desire a successful business and a successful life benefit the most from coaching partnerships.  Just the mere fact of working with a life coach often opens up new avenues of possibilities for people who may not have previously been able to see life beyond their business.

5. Are You Willing To Be Honest With Yourself?

We all have areas in our life that need improvement or just a little more attention. For coaching to be successful, it is imperative that you are willing to grow even in areas that may be struggling.  Accepting the fact that we do have flaws and that your business is not perfect, leads to a more successful experience. Also, are you willing to accept suggestions from your coach?  Your coach will help you identify your central beliefs and see if they align with your current circumstances.  Challenges will arise, are you ready to face them?

If you are exploring coaching as an option to improve your business, answering the above questions will help guide you and make sure you are ready to invest your time and money.

How To Find The Right Coach For Your Business?

After completing the questions, it is important to make sure you choose the right coach for you and your business.  Having 3 prospective coaches, interviewing them, and making sure you feel comfortable with them is key.  The connection between you and the coach is important and you should feel like you can trust the coach.

Are you ready to take your business to the next level?
